Love Made Flesh:
The Fourth Advent Candle
Romans 1:1-7 & Matthew 3:1-12
This Fourth Sunday of Advent we light the candle of Love,
a reminder of God’s greatest gift to us—His Son, Jesus Christ.
Through Jesus, we receive grace and are called to be part of God’s family,
as Paul reminds us in Romans,
“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
In the Gospel of Matthew, we see God’s love made tangible in Joseph’s obedience and trust,
welcoming Mary and the child Jesus into his home, guided by the Spirit.
God’s love is patient and sacrificial, calling us to follow in Christ’s footsteps,
welcoming, forgiving, and serving others in His name.
As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Emmanuel—God with us—
may the light of this candle inspire us to share the love of Christ in every word, action, and thought.
